The Galaxy Tab S7 is a flagship tablet with specs and performance that will last a year later. It offers a crisp and smooth LCD panel, blazing-fast performance, and all the RAM and storage you could ask for. Combine all that with the free S Pen included in the box, and you end up with a pretty solid deal.

Pros

  • Smooth 120Hz refresh rate
  • Great display yet easy to use
  • Snapdragon 865+ Processors
  • Lots of RAM and storage
  • More affordable price

The larger, more visual Tab S7 + shares a lot of DNA with the baseline model, including its processor and memory. But it has scaled up to a 12.4-inch size and resized the LCD panel for a Super AMOLED, resulting in one of the best screens we’ve seen on any mobile device. This update is tantamount to a steep price increase, however.

Pros

  • AMOLED screen is falling apart
  • 120Hz level is as smooth as can be
  • Excellent canvas for drawing or product
  • Qualcomm's latest processor
  • Ample specs across the board

Cons

  • Size can be a little weird
  • Very expensive

Samsung has released two powerful and attractive tablets in the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7 +. The S7 matches the S7 + for CPU, RAM, cameras, speakers, and storage, but the S7 + upgrades display size (12.4in. Vs. 11in.) And quality (AMOLED vs. LCD) for a huge price jump. Both tablets are a bit expensive, but since Samsung often gets a discount of several hundred dollars, should you jump for higher quality or save money? We recommend the standard S7 for most people, but we'll explain who should upgrade to the S7 +.

At full price, the 128GB S7 costs $ 650, and the 128GB S7 + costs $ 850. Both basic configurations come with 6GB of RAM; you need to upgrade the storage to at least 256GB to get the maximum of 8GB.

Category Galaxy Tab S7 Galaxy Tab S7 +
    128GB / 6GB $ 650 $ 850
    256GB / 8GB $ 730 $ 930
    512 GB / 8GB $ 830 $ 1030

The above prices are not fixed. For example, during the holiday season, the S7 dropped to $ 499 and the S7 + to $ 699, making them much more affordable. With the Galaxy Tab S8 approaching soon, S7 tablets should continue to receive discounts, but their discounts could start starting in 2022.

Also, these prices are especially for the Wi-Fi versions of the tablets. 5G models are available at T-Mobile / Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular, with all carriers selling the Galaxy Tab S7 for $ 850 and the Tab S7 + for $ 1,050 (not both comes only with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage).

The Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 + have more in common different than what is different, which is good news for the more affordable Tab S7. Outside of some presentation differences, which we explain further below, they are virtually unrecognizable.

Each tablet has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor and 6 or 8GB of RAM (depending on which storage configuration you choose). In other words, they are more powerful enough for whatever app or game you throw at them. They also come with your choice of 128, 256, or 512GB of storage, microSD card support with up to 1TB of extra space, 13MP + 5MP rear cameras, and an 8MP selfie camera. The Tab S7 and S7 + also come with an S Pen at no extra cost, giving you an out-of-the-box tool for drawing, sketching, or taking handwritten notes. Thanks to the reduced latency of just 9ms, this version of the S Pen feels better than any previous Galaxy tablets.

Looking at the Tab S7 display, you get an 11-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2800x1752 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s a high-quality screen that we don’t think you’ll ever be disappointed with, and the 11-inch size hits a nice sweet spot of being big enough to be wearing enjoyable content without being too bulky.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 vs Tab S7 Plus: The Tab S7 + has a better screen (and a higher price)

    Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus

Source: Joe Maring / Android Central

That brings us to the Galaxy Tab S7 +, which, as mentioned above, has many of the same specs that you get with the regular Tab S7. But, precisely, the most impressive screen is the main reason you would want to get this over the cheapest fiber.

Along with a larger 12.4-inch size, the S7 + also ditches the tech LCD for Super AMOLED. This leads to more vibrant colors and deeper blacks, and if you watch a lot of movies or play a handful of games, it's good to have a perk. However, the 12.4-inch screen size means that the Tab S7 + can be a little inconvenient at times, so that’s something you want to keep in mind.

Where the big screen shines if you plan to use the Tab S7 + for a lot of creative work or if you buy the optional keyboard cover. With that keyboard, Samsung DeX desktop interface, and the 12.4-inch display, the Tab S7 + is a very attractive laptop replacement.

The only other notable difference is that the Tab S7 + has a larger 10,090 mAh battery compared to the S7's 8,000 mAh, though we wouldn't worry too much about that. The Tab S7 + is rated for up to 14 hours of video playback, but the Tab S7 should receive up to 15 hours. That extra battery life tends to power the larger S7 + display; both offer very similar longevity.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 vs Tab S7 +: Go Plus for Premium, S7 for performance, or wait for S8

While there is no denying that the Galaxy Tab S7 + is a very impressive device, we think most people are better off with the cheaper Tab S7. Yes, the screen may not look so good, but you save $ 200 and still get everything else available on the Plus model.

We understand that Samsung did not push the Tab S7 to push more people to buy the expensive Plus - in the same way it did for the Galaxy S21 as a base to push the S21 Ultra. Its "downgraded" display is still high resolution, and surprisingly fast at 120Hz, performance is as fast as you could ask for, and battery life is slightly more reliable than on the S7 +.

The Tab S7 + is a great choice to consider whether you want that larger screen size or better AMOLED display technology, especially if you use it multitask with DeX mode. But overall, we need to make our main recommendation to the smaller group. However, both tablets are the best Android today, so you can not go wrong with either.

If both tablets cost you a bit too much, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE is as big as the S7 + but offers a price point below the S7. By trading at the lowest price, you get slower performance and a standard 60Hz refresh rate, but an extra year of software support and security.

You may also want to wait for the Galaxy Tab S8 instead. So far, rumors suggest that the S8 and S8 Plus may have similar specs to their predecessors, but only power up with an updated Snapdragon 895 chipset. And there’s also a 14.6 S8 Ultra with a 14.6-inch display, a 92% screen-to-body ratio, and a full-powered Exynos 2200 chipset. That light, bulky tablet might be worth the wait for the S7 or S7 +, just expect all of the S8 tablets which cost much more than the discounted S7 models do now.

The new Android tablet is available

In the market for a new record? It's hard to do much better than the Galaxy Tab S7. Whether you’re after a top-notch display, excellent performance, or want an included style for note-taking and drawing, the Tab S7 has it all. The LCD panel is not as impressive as the AMOLED one found on the S7 +, but we think the S7 is the best overall value with the price difference.

The cost of the best display comes

The Galaxy Tab S7 + is built on a solid foundation, offering almost the same specs and features present on the regular S7. With the $ 200 price increase, you get a larger display and a more impressive AMOLED panel. That makes the S7 + even better for creativity and productivity, though you have to want that improved screen technology for a price increase worth it.
