The next morning: What's Sony's smartphone plan?

The next morning Whats Sonys smartphone plan

I'm not sure what Sony's playbook is all about when it comes to selling its phones in the US. Take the Xperia 5 III. After its launch in other regions last year, the phone is only available on the state side for $ 1,000. This is its high-end mid-ish phone, with the famous line of Xperia 1 smartphones (see above) both bigger and more expensive.

For that price, this Xperia has a lot to offer. The autofocus tricks, courtesy of Sony's camera arm, are often impressive. The Xperia 5 III can also record 4K video at up to 120 fps; smartphone is the first camera designed for people who are actually taking pictures or video. But, well, that's true of Sony's phones lately. And if you’re dying for truly advanced smartphone photography, the Xperia Pro-I, with a 1-inch camera sensor, may deliver the brightest detail. Only $ 800 extra - further evidence that Sony's smartphone prices are feeling completely different from its competitors.

Video is now on par with competitors with 4K at up to 60p with 10 bit quality 4: 2: 2. Autofocus is great for both video and photography, and the internal durability does a good job. The main disadvantages are the relatively high price and the portable shutter that prevents the use of the electronic shutter. Steve Dent puts the latest Sony camera to the test.
