Cricket Wireless is a prepaid carrier owned by AT&T and offers great prices on access to the large AT&T network. Cricket uses only the AT&T network with access to LTE and 5G on all plans. Unlike signing up for an AT&T service, there is no contract and no credit check. It also works with most unlocked phones, making it a quick and easy way to get great coverage.

AT&T has been working hard for years building one of the largest and fastest LTE networks. Cricket customers will have access to most of AT&T's network; as long as things do not become too crowded, a similar pace is possible. This network also has great compatibility with unlocked phones, making it a fast connection option.

In the past, Cricket Wireless limited the speed of your data connection depending on which plan you chose but in 2022, the speed limits were removed. Coverage has also been updated to allow 5G connection on all plans as long as you have a compatible phone.

5G coverage is another part of the AT&T network that did not reach all Cricket plans. While many other prepaid carriers based on Verizon and T-Mobile have been quick to implement 5G, Cricket only allows Unlimited More customers and data-only plans the next network -gen used. If you want to test 5G on AT&T, Cricket is still one of the cheapest ways to do just that.

Wireless Cricket Buyer's Guide The plans

Cricket also has multi-line discounts so you can save when you bring the whole family. That's up to five lines.

Both Cricket unrestricted plans come with use in Mexico and Canada. Keep in mind that Canadian usage must stay below 50%. This can be great for people who travel to Mexico or Canada frequently and are not looking to switch to SIMs.

If you are ready for a new phone, you can buy one directly from Cricket. Cricket has a wide range of Androids and iPhones, including some high-end devices like the Galaxy S20 FE. You can also get a mid-range device like the attractive Moto One 5G. If you need help paying, funding is available through Affirm.

One of the best things about AT & T's network is how well unlocked phones work with it. Works just about any unlocked GSM device.

5G support is still a bit more limited. As of December 2022, support is being given to the iPhone 12 and 13 series, as well as the Cricket Dream 5G, LG K92 5G, Motorola moto 5G stylus, moto one 5G, Samsung Galaxy S20 +, S20 FE, A32 5G, A51 5g, and A52 5G. Other BYOD tools may work with the right APN settings, though it's better not to bet on unofficial support just yet. Don't be surprised if your BYOD 5G device is just connecting to LTE. Especially with AT & T’s current 5G footprint.

Wireless Cricket Buyer's Guide Do you go with Cricket?

If you live and work in a well - covered area, there's little reason not to try a prepaid carrier. Primary data is one of the main reasons for paying AT&T by email over Cricket. This data takes precedence over other data on the AT&T network. As a result, if a tower is very dense, a Cricket customer may see distances fall while an AT&T customer does not. For most people, it will not be a big deal and for many, it will not even be obvious. Unfortunately, this all comes down to your area and density, so it can be difficult to predict.

At least you've not caught up in Cricket if you decide it's not good enough.

If you are looking at other prepaid carriers, there is a lot more competition. Mint Mobile, for example, offers similar amounts of data for less money. Because it's based on T - Mobile, it also has good 5G coverage.

However, Cricket is still one of the best prepaid carriers you can get while looking at the endless plans especially when you take more than one line.
